What Is Floorté Flooring?
“Built to Endure”—Shaw Floorté luxury vinyl plank flooring offers the look of natural hardwood flooring with the added benefits of being waterproof, durable, and easy to maintain. It also has a wide range of colors, wood patterns, and textures that suit commercial and residential spaces.
Shaw Floorté Flooring is one of Shaw Floors’ most popular flooring brands. While Shaw Floors carries numerous brands, Floorté luxury vinyl has specialized qualities, most notably its focus on being waterproof.
Shaw Floors Floorté offers plenty more features that make this a smart choice for any room in your home. It can take on the worst type of morning disaster or afternoon adventure and stay robust for years.
Shaw Floors Floorté collection is known for its unique style, durability, high performance, and easy installation. Their classic version works for any home, while the Shaw Floorté Pro edition is great for any commercial business or spaces with high foot traffic. Its use in residential spaces, though, is where Floorté truly excels.
Three distinct brands within Floorté luxury vinyl flooring are worth noting: Pantheon HD, Endura, and Paragon. All these are easy to install with its special locking system that creates tight seals between planks. It can be glued down or placed “floating“—its attached underlayment evens out slight imperfections on the subfloor, increases the floor’s comfort and sound absorption, and further protects your subfloor and luxury vinyl planks from moisture.
Shaw Floorté offers real hardwood and luxury vinyl. The luxury vinyl option is not only more affordable, its high-definition printing brings the look of natural materials in a way that’s compellingly convincing.
Floorté Pros and Cons
Pro
Resists Water, Spills, and Moisture Buildup
Most homeowners prefer waterproof flooring options. Shaws Floors’ Floorté luxury vinyl and hardwood flooring options offer 100% waterproof styles that are wet-moppable and easy to clean!
Floorté luxury vinyl flooring retains its resistance to water thanks to its waterproof core and its special locking system. In their Classic brand for residential use, the core layer is foam, giving it a strong ability to withstand water. Keep in mind much of this is based on how thick the wear layer is on your floor. The standard Classic editions have slightly thinner wear layers, but the Pro editions of Floorté are thicker. Pro floors do provide better protection from water.
Shaw Floors’ Floorté luxury vinyl is a high-performance, low-maintenance flooring ideal for areas in your home prone to moisture, like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Any moisture that creeps into a room also won’t ruin the floor. Remove the planks with ease based on a click profile installation method.
Numerous Finishes and Colors
Finding a floor that offers a wide variety of wood looks to suit numerous preferences can be challenging. Floorté luxury vinyl floors are some of the most diverse around, with colors and textures for virtually anyone.
Floor City’s Floorté luxury vinyl floors feature various colors with warm, cool, or neutral hues to suit any space. Getting samples may give you the best idea of what colors and textures may suit your space.
In their hardwood collection, Shaw Floors Floorté offers numerous wood species ranging from ash to walnut. Textures range from heavy scraped to wire-brushed. Colors are diverse, ranging from white to beige.
High-Definition Printing
Floorté’s luxury vinyl plank flooring vividly creates the look of real hardwood with amazing clarity. Shaw uses high-definition printing technology to recreate the look of natural wood.
No matter what kind of species of wood you want, Shaw Floors’ printing techniques replicate it convincingly. Not all flooring brands offer this much vividness to the look of wood and tile. Shaw Floors is one of the rare few flooring leaders that utilize state-of-the-art printing technology.
Other Shaw Floors flooring options even recreate tile and stone. Get samples of their luxury vinyl planks here at Floor City to best appreciate their printing techniques. Most people can’t tell the difference between the printed image and the real thing.
Useable in Every Room
Not every hardwood or luxury vinyl floor can work in every room, but Floorté floors can. Most people who buy these floors use them in their kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room because of Shaw Floors’ waterproof styles. Now, more people wanting the look of real hardwood are starting to use Floorté luxury vinyl floors in other rooms of their homes thanks to its high performance, durability, and easy installation.
Floorté’s resistance to dents, scratches, and scuffing makes them ideal in rooms where heavy furniture is used, like living rooms and bedrooms. Its multiple laters offer supreme comfort—it’s almost like walking on a carpet. Floorté luxury vinyl planks are wet-moppable, making cleaning after your kid’s messes a breeze.
You could even use Floorté Pro floors in your garage, which offer a thicker wear layer and a more durable top layer. Floorté Pro luxury vinyl flooring, made for commercial businesses, makes for an even hardier floor, especially if your home experiences high foot traffic. With proper maintenance, using Floorté in any residential room is possible.
Con
May Need Replacing
No floor lasts forever. Even the high-performance luxury vinyl plank version of Floorté will need replacing eventually. Nevertheless, luxury vinyl floors are more apt to last for a couple of decades with the right care.
In some cases, you may only need to replace planks that look worn out. Shaw Floors Floorté luxury vinyl planks are just as easy to remove as they are to install, thanks to Shaw’s easy installation method via its special locking system.
After correct maintenance, your Floorté floor might only need complete replacing once in your lifetime.
Pre-Purchase Q&A
How Do I Install Floorté Luxury Vinyl Flooring?
Customers consider Shaw Floors because of their easy installation methods. There are two possible ways to install Floorté’s luxury vinyl flooring, since every situation in one’s home is different.
The click-lock installation method is an engineering marvel plenty of flooring companies utilize. Click-lock luxury vinyl uses a tongue and groove system that allows vinyl planks to click and lock together. Shaw Floors has dominated in making the click-lock installation feature an enjoyable DIY process.
This installation method is fantastic because you can place a Floorté floor over existing subfloors. Even if your subfloor has some irregularities, these floors essentially “float“ over the initial surface, thanks to Floorté’s attached underlayment.
In some cases, you may need to use the adhesive version of Floorté. Having a concrete or wood subfloor may require you to use the glue-down method. If you have no experience placing flooring with adhesives, hire a professional to ensure a smooth installation of your luxury vinyl flooring.
How Do I Care for My Floorté Flooring?
The maintenance and care you put into your Floorté luxury vinyl floor will determine how long it lasts. What that entails is just general cleaning you can do once per week.
Sweep your luxury vinyl flooring once a week to remove any dirt or grit that may have accumulated. Scratches can easily show up on the floor surface without proper cleaning. Vacuuming is also a good idea, though avoid using vacuum cleaners with beater bars.
Stay away from cleaning solutions that have harsh chemicals. Consider using Shaw’s patented cleaning solutions, made for all their hardwood and vinyl plank floor editions, including Floorté.

How Thick is Floorté Flooring?
Wear layers are varied on Floorté floors, ranging from 6 mil up to 30 mil. Shaw Floors Floorté Classic is better suited for places with less foot traffic, while Floorté Pro is recommended for spaces that often get crowds.
The thickness level of your Floorté floor needs some serious thought. Otherwise known as the “mil wear layer,” its thickness factors into how water-resistant it is and how much protection it gets from foot traffic.
Note that a mil layer doesn’t stand for a millimeter in thickness. A 12-mil wear layer is about 0.3 mm thick, while 20 mil is 0.5 mm. Converting “mil” (which is one-thousandth of an inch) to millimeters gives you a better understanding of what thickness level you need.
What you ultimately need to know is if you have a lot of people (and pets) treading your home floor daily, get flooring with a higher mil wear layer.
Why Does the Mil Wear Layer Matter?
The mil wear layer in Floorté luxury vinyl flooring determines how long it lasts based on use over time. Known as the thickness level, Floorté offers a wide variance of mil wear layers to suit your particular living environment.
Every space will be different in how much floor traffic it gets. The more foot traffic there is, the faster the floor wears out.
Take some time to estimate how much foot traffic your space gets daily before deciding on the right mil wear layer. On the lowest end with Floorté is 6 mil, followed by 8-mil, and 12-mil. These are the standard wear layers for residential use. All Pro and Plus editions go up to 20 mil and above.
A 6-mil wear layer is more suitable in residential spaces with minimal foot traffic. Homes or residential buildings with more people, however, benefit better from a 12-mil floor (or higher). For commercial buildings with crowds and possibly heavy equipment, floors should have more than a 20-mil wear layer.
How Do You Acclimate Floorté Flooring?
Floorté luxury vinyl floors don’t need acclimation thanks to the technology Shaw uses. Install them the same day, then place back your heavy furniture and start walking on them immediately.
The stability of a Floorté luxury vinyl rigid core floor means it can be installed over your subfloor as is. No extensive prep of your subfloor is necessary, though it still should be clean and dry before installation. It’s one of the few floors you don’t have to acclimate, including when installed in your basement.
What Is Floorté Luxury Vinyl Flooring Made of?
Most Floorté luxury vinyl floors have six distinct layers that are all important in keeping your floor fully protected and comfortable.
Floorté flooring has waterproof styles thanks to its first layer, a high-performance finish that protects against water. In Floorté Pro floors, this finish is an Armourbead™ topcoat, a quartz-enhanced urethane finish designed for added durability. It’s what makes Floorté floors wet-moppable.
The second layer, a part of the first layer, is a transparent layer that protects against scratching and scuffing. Majority of its protection against the elements is found in this layer. Newer technology on the topcoat, though, is starting to fill in for the most water and scratch protection. Floorté luxury vinyl flooring doubles the protection by using an innovative topcoat and wear layer.
The third layer is the image layer, which mimics the look of real hardwood. These images are high-resolution, which makes them look like real wooden planks. Many who see it often wonder how the floor owner maintains their wood floor so beautifully.
The fourth layer contains Floorté luxury vinyl flooring’s Compressed Core Technology, or what’s known as the rigid core. This is the heart of Floorté floors and where its robust performance comes from. These floors can take the most extreme impact and plenty of heavy furniture thanks to this layer, making it a favorite among all floors using rigid core design.
The fifth layer is a balancing layer designed to bring more stability to your floor, especially for places that experience high foot traffic. It adds to the luxury vinyl floor’s durability.
The sixth layer is an attached acoustical pad designed specifically to control sound within any home environment. When you buy Plus editions of Floorté, you can also get two extra underlayments that help with sound absorption and bring more comfort. These underlays are Bravo and SELITAC®.
Why Buy Floorté Flooring?
Here are great reasons Floorté luxury vinyl should be the next flooring for your space:
>It offers the vivid look of hardwood, stone, and tile.
It’s waterproof, making it wet-moppable.
Extremely durable and stain-resistant.
Made in the USA after initial production in China.
What Is the Difference Between WPC and SPC Floorté Floors?
Below is a comparison between WPC and SPC Floorté luxury vinyl floors:
WPC
WPC stands for Wood Plastic Composite and uses wood-like plasticizers to mimic the look of wood. Floorté Classic luxury vinyl floors with WPC cores are still durable and waterproof, perfect for homes prone to messes and accidents. These floors offer better comfort and stronger sound absorption.
SPC
SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite. SPC floors contain limestone and PVC material, which makes them more durable than luxury vinyl floors with WPC cores. If you need a little more durability in your home, consider a Floorté SPC floor.
Flooring with WPC is recommended for residential spaces with little foot traffic due to its superior comfort and sound absorption. Flooring with SPC is more rigid and tougher, making it ideal for commercial spaces.
Pantheon Floorté Flooring
One of the most popular Floorté brands available today is Pantheon. Floor City offers six variations of the Pantheon HD Floorté luxury vinyl flooring with the looks of real hardwood.
Pantheon luxury vinyl flooring uses mixed wood species, bringing a beautiful, unique look of natural hardwood you can’t find on similar floors. Embossed in-register textures also bring a classic aesthetic and feel when walked on.
Pantheon floors are made for busy spaces. Available in 20 mil, it’s built to endure major scuffing. Pantheon can be installed on existing subfloors, directly on that same subfloor, or below in a basement.
The width and length of the planks are 7 x 48, more than enough to cover a larger room. An Armourbead® top layer provides the top-tier performance expected from Shaw’s Floorté waterproof styles.
Installation of a Pantheon floor is also easy using the click-lock method. This type of flooring is considered “floating,“ making any extensive prep of your subfloor unnecessary.
Endura Floorté Flooring
Out of all of Floorté’s resilient luxury vinyl flooring, Endura is one of the most durable in their SPC line. Usually known as Endura Plus, it’s the best choice for spaces with extremely high floor traffic.
Floor City offers 20 variations of Endura luxury vinyl flooring. There are numerous styles available, making Endura popular for its aesthetic and strong surface. It also uses Floorté’s Armourbead™ wear layer for the ultimate protection.
For further durability, the plank thickness level is 4.8 mm, which can withstand hours of people walking or standing. Endura luxury vinyl floors are also considered floating flooring, requiring easy installation with little prep work for the subfloor. Like with Pantheon luxury vinyl flooring, the width and length are 7 x 48.
All of Shaw’s luxury vinyl floors come with no ortho-phthalate plasticizers, making them safe.
Note that warranties are different based on whether the floor is used residentially or commercially.
Paragon Floorté Flooring
Floorté also offers Paragon Plus, another luxury vinyl bestseller for Shaw. Floor City offers four variations of this brand. Paragon also offers natural hardwood looks and uses grain pines as starters, including dark wood types like walnut and oak.
Paragon luxury vinyl flooring has all the features Floorté is known for, including being waterproof, thereby easy to clean and wet-moppable. Durable with a 20-mil wear layer, it’s also suitable for spaces with high floor traffic.
Paragon Plus luxury vinyl also comes with a Soft Silence® pad, another trademarked technology by Shaw. Their bottom layer is perfect for controlling loud sounds and providing the ultimate foot comfort. Rarely do you find floors feeling almost like a carpet when walking on it with socks or bare feet.
The length and width are also 7 x 48. Plank thickness is 5 mm, providing solid protective layers. Like the other Floorté luxury vinyl flooring, it’s also a floating floor, where planks are clicked and locked.

Floorté Easy Installation Methods
Shaw recommends using either the click-lock method or glue-down method, depending on the type of room you have.
Click-Lock Method
-
To get started with a click-lock method, make sure the planks are stored in an environment between 55 degrees and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the planks away from excessive sunlight, since this could discolor them.
-
Move all your heavy furniture out of the room. Gather your installation tools, like a utility knife, tape measure, and a rubber mallet. Make sure the subfloor is at least clean, dry, and has no structural damage. If you discover it’s not quite level, place some self-leveling mix first.
-
You don’t need any extra underlayment with Floorté flooring since it comes with its own already built-in. All that’s necessary is clicking the planks together and putting them in place.
-
As you begin, always install your planks parallel to the longest wall in the room. Start from the room’s left side and gradually work to the right.
-
Floorté luxury vinyl planks use a tongue and groove system, requiring you to seat the planks at an angle. This doesn’t take too much pressure to snap into place. Be sure to keep the first two rows straight and square as your foundation.
-
All the planks are easy to cut if you have to place them around irregular spaces. Just use a sharp utility knife to cut to the shape you need.
-
Exposed edges may need new molding and transition strips in certain rooms. You may also need to use new caulking around the edges in bathrooms.
Glue-Down Method
-
For the glue-down method, the preparation is the same, except you have to test your subfloor for moisture beforehand. You also need to control the room temperature and humidity before the floor goes in. Make sure the temperature in the room doesn’t exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Flooring material and the adhesives do need acclimating for 48 hours before you do any installing work.
Spreading glue can sometimes become messy. Glue or adhesive residue may seep through if it’s spread incorrectly from the directions provided. To save the problem of making mistakes and having costly cleanup, consider a professional for the glue-down method.
Glue-down may not be necessary unless your Floorté floor happens to get excessive sunlight from nearby windows or doors.
Floorté Warranty Information
>Valid use of your luxury vinyl floor warranties corresponds directly to the care your floor receives.
Various terms apply based on the particular circumstances of any floor damage. Higher mil wear layers have the longest-lasting warranties.
The 12-mil residential version of Floorté has a 30-year warranty. Commercial versions of Floorté with 12-mil wear layers have a 15-year warranty.
Floorté floors with lesser mil layers (like 8 mil) have shorter warranties. Residential and commercial versions have 15 years and 5 years, respectively.
Note that Shaw warranties only apply to manufacturing defects in each product. However, you do have two years to use the warranty if you discover those defects, including discoloring or delamination after proper care.
Warranties don’t cover damages by fires or burns, flooding, subfloor and alkali emissions, vacuum cleaner beater bars, intentional or accidental abuse, cuts and gouges from sharp objects, etc.
Also, any installations that do not follow proper directions void the warranties. This includes not acclimating any flooring materials or maintaining the luxury vinyl floor properly.
Shaw pays 50% of labor costs if your Floorté luxury vinyl floor is found to have a defect after two years. After those two years, Shaw pays to replace your floor if defects are found, but not the labor costs.
The warranty applies strictly to the owner and is not transferrable. If you sell your home, the new owner can’t use the floor warranties.
To start a claim on the warranty, you’ll need to go to the authorized dealer that sold you the floor. They’ll file a warranty claim for you to save time.
For Shaw to take action, you have to provide solid proof your Floorté floor has defects. Provide photographs to prove your case, including a valid description.
