Definition of Lacquer

Lacquer is a clear or colored finish that’s applied to wood floors for protection and to enhance their appearance.

It contains a mixture of resin, drying oil, and solvent to create a hard, durable high-gloss finish.

Lacquer application involves the following steps:

  1. Wood flooring material is sanded to remove all imperfections.
  2. Lacquer is applied in thin, even coats using a roller, brush, or sprayer.
  3. Let each layer dry completely before topping with another coat.
  4. Once the final coat is completely dry, the lacquer is buffed and polished to create a high-gloss finish.

The number of coats applied determines the level of glossiness and protection achieved.
